Expressing Emotion and Conflict Through a Unique Perspective
My name is Tim. Throughout my artistic journey, although I didn’t have significant advantages in basic art skills, I gradually realized that the most important aspect of art is not the perfection of technique, but the expression of emotion and the uniqueness of creativity. In this piece, I used performance art to express the emotions and conflicts of teenagers involved in gambling from an adult perspective. This work was not only an exploration of my own artistic identity but also an attempt to break through traditional creative methods.
Breaking the Limits of Technique
Since childhood, my drawing skills have been average, and often I felt that my works lacked brilliance. However, I gradually came to understand that art is not just about technique; it is a vehicle for emotion and thought. In my creative process, I focused on my unique experiences, trying to understand and express the world from my own perspective, and conveying that perspective through art.
The Clash of Teen Emotions and Adult Perspectives
My work focuses on the emotionally charged social issue of teenage gambling. For this creation, I chose to express these emotions through performance art, attempting to let the audience feel the inner struggles, loneliness, and confusion from a teenager’s point of view. At the same time, I integrated some adult reflections and insights, revealing the desires and helplessness behind the emotions of teenagers. Through this, I hoped to break away from the rational analyses of the adult world and allow the audience to truly understand the complexity of these emotions.
A Breakthrough in Emotional Expression
Although my work did not involve highly refined technical details, I believe that what moves people most in art is the genuine expression of emotion.
Through performance art, I strived to imbue my piece with more emotional power, using body language, space, and color to convey the complex world within a teenager’s mind. When a piece of art resonates with the audience’s emotions, its significance transcends mere technical execution.
Gratitude and Reflection: My Art and Future
Throughout this creative process, Unique Art Academy provided me with constant inspiration and support, helping me understand how to focus on my strengths and maximize my unique perspective and creativity. The resources and targeted guidance from the academy allowed me to continuously break through my limitations in creation, ultimately leading to my offer from the University of the Arts London (UAL). This experience has deepened my understanding of art and strengthened my resolve to pursue a future in the artistic field.
I am deeply grateful for the growth platform provided by Unique Art Academy. The support I received allowed me to achieve my artistic dreams. Moving forward, I hope to continue using art to express emotions that are hard to put into words, and to inspire more people to reflect and resonate through my work.
