The Artistic Journey: My Creation and Future Aspirations
My name is Joe, and this piece was created for the University of the Arts London (UAL) exam on the topic “Street.” In this artwork, I combined the concept of streets from China and New Zealand, connecting them through a rotating disc, symbolizing that both cities are home to me.
The Intersection of Two Streets: The Fusion of Cultures
As a Chinese student raised in New Zealand, my identity is a blend of both cultures. The streets of China and New Zealand may seem separate, but in my heart, they together form the essence of my cultural and life background. In this artwork, I used a rotating disc to connect these two streets, which symbolizes the flow and intertwining of these two cultures. They are not isolated; through my art, they are perfectly unified.

By merging these two streets, I aim to express that no matter where I am, I always feel the convergence and nourishment of both cultures. Through the rotation of the disc, I convey how these two cultures are interwoven in my life, guiding me forward.

I hope to apply my understanding of both Eastern and Western cultures in the field of art and design, becoming a creator who transcends cultural boundaries. On this street, I hope to connect different cultures through my work, building bridges for communication.
